Overview

How this scope works

Once a shipment crosses a state line the hourly clock stops being the fair unit. Interstate moves are priced on linehaul: the shipment's net weight in pounds against the mileage between origin and destination, taken from a published tariff and then discounted. Add packing, valuation and any accessorial charges, and you have the estimate.

The weight is not a guess. The truck is weighed empty on a certified scale, loaded, and weighed again. The difference is your net weight, and you are entitled to see both scale tickets. On a non-binding estimate you can also demand a reweigh before delivery if the figure looks wrong.

What is included

  • Written estimate on your choice of binding, non-binding or binding not-to-exceed
  • Certified empty and loaded scale tickets supplied with the invoice
  • Inventory with condition codes taken at origin and checked off at destination
  • A guaranteed delivery spread rather than a single optimistic date
  • Dedicated trailer or consolidated load, priced both ways so you can choose
  • Named coordinator for the whole lane, including overnight and weekend contact

How we run it

  1. 01

    Survey and tariff quote

We survey, estimate weight from a cube sheet, apply the mileage band and return a priced estimate with the discount and every accessorial named.

  2. 02

    Pack and load

Packing runs one to three days before load day. The driver takes the inventory, applies condition codes and weighs empty then loaded.

  3. 03

    Transit

You get the driver's contact and a delivery spread. Typical Houston lanes run two to four business days to Dallas or Austin and five to nine to the east and west coasts.

  4. 04

    Deliver and reconcile

Crew places by inventory number. Scale tickets, the bill of lading and the final invoice are reconciled at delivery, not weeks later.

Why clients pick it

  • You pick the risk profile

Binding for budget certainty, non-binding with the 110 percent rule, or not-to-exceed for the protection of both.

  • Weight you can verify

Two certified scale tickets, and the right to a reweigh on non-binding shipments before anything is unloaded.

  • Roll-outs, not one-offs

Multi-site programmes run to a master schedule with a single point of contact and a consolidated monthly invoice.

  • Storage in the middle

If the destination is not ready, the shipment goes into our Houston warehouse on the same paperwork rather than a separate contract.

What drives the price

Cost factors for Long-distance and multi-site
FactorWhat it means
Net weightOffice contents average roughly 7 pounds per cubic foot. A 40-seat office typically lands between 9,000 and 14,000 pounds.
Mileage bandTariffs price in distance bands, so a 640-mile lane and a 690-mile lane often sit in the same band.
Packing labour and materialsFull-service packing is the largest variable after weight and is quoted per carton and per crate.
AccessorialsShuttle service, long carry beyond 75 feet, stair carry per flight above the first, and storage-in-transit handling.
ValuationReleased value at 60 cents per pound is included. Full value protection is priced on your declared value.

Sample planning range: $1.15 to $2.40 per pound for lanes between 500 and 1,800 miles, before packing and accessorials. Tariff discounts vary by season and lane.

Federal interstate moves are priced from a published tariff based on weight and distance, then discounted. It protects you from paying for traffic, breakdowns and slow elevators on the other end, which are the carrier's problem to solve, not yours to fund.

A range of dates inside which delivery will occur, written on the bill of lading. A single date on a 1,200-mile lane is marketing, not planning. Our spreads are typically two to four days wide depending on distance.

On a non-binding estimate, yes. You can request a reweigh before the shipment is unloaded, and the charges are then based on the reweighed figure. Ask the driver before unloading begins, not after.

We offer both. A consolidated load is cheaper and has a wider delivery spread; a dedicated trailer costs more and gives you a tighter window and no handling between origin and destination.

Book the survey before you book the date

Freight elevator windows in downtown towers are commonly reserved four to six weeks out. The survey is what tells you whether your date is real.
