The brief
What the client needed
A research institute moved from a leased building into its own campus facility 400 metres away. Short distance, but 22 populated racks, 940 terminated ports and a wet lab full of calibrated instruments.
The institute needed a documented custody trail for every data-bearing asset and an agreed maximum downtime of 36 hours.
How we ran it

Draw before you unplug
Every rack was photographed, port-mapped and given a destination elevation signed off by the institute's IT lead two weeks before the window.
- 02
Sealed and signed at every transfer
All 418 data-bearing assets were bagged, sealed with numbered tamper-evident seals and signed for at origin, at the vehicle and at destination. Seals were verified before racking.
- 03
Instruments on the critical path
The three longest-recalibration instruments moved on weekend one so engineers could work on them while the rest of the lab was still packing.
The result
Services were tested and handed back 31 hours after shutdown, inside the agreed window. Every seal was intact and the custody log went straight into the institute's audit file.
All 31 instruments were recalibrated and signed off by their manufacturers within three weeks of the final phase.
The elevation drawings meant nobody was rebuilding a rack from memory at two in the morning.
