Eleven floors of filing moved downtown over one long weekend

The firm was leaving a 1980s tower for a new building six blocks away. Both buildings had two freight cars, but the origin building restricted after-hours access to a single car with a building engineer billed by the hour.

Privileged material and the deed room required sealed transport and dual signature at every transfer.

How we ran it

   Elevator maths first

   The single origin freight car set the ceiling on throughput. We built the whole schedule from its cycle time, then sized the crews and truck waves to match rather than exceed it.

   Sealed custody for privileged material

   Privileged files and the deed room moved in numbered sealed crates, logged, transported separately and signed for by a partner at destination.

   Client-facing zones first

   Reception, four boardrooms and the partner floor were placed and finished by Saturday evening so the firm looked open before the general floors were complete.

The result

The firm opened Monday with all 1,600 linear feet in sequence and every sealed crate intact. The deed room was reconciled item by item with the managing partner before the crew left the building.

Crate collection ran five business days later, and the old suite was handed back broom-clean with the landlord walk photographed and signed.

Every sealed crate was accounted for, in order, with a signature against it. That is what we were paying for.
