Three Energy Corridor floors consolidated into one campus building

The client held three floors in two buildings on expiring leases and had signed a single campus building on Eldridge Parkway. The engineering group carried 640 linear feet of plan files, eleven large-format plotters and a sample library that had never been catalogued.

The constraint was a live project delivery in the same period, which meant one department could not be offline for more than 36 hours at any point.

How we ran it

   Split the move by dependency

   The engineering group moved on weekend one with its plotters and plan files. Everything else moved on weekend two, which kept the live delivery team stable through the critical fortnight.

2. 02

   Catalogue before crating

   The sample library was inventoried and barcoded on intake so it could be shelved to a plan at destination rather than stacked and sorted later.

3. 03

   Plotters as a technical scope

   Large-format plotters were handled as equipment, not furniture: rigged, crated, and recommissioned by the manufacturer on the Monday of each phase.

The result

Both phases opened on the scheduled Monday with no business day lost. Plan files arrived in drawer order and the sample library was shelved to a catalogued plan for the first time in the firm's history.

The surrendered floors were decommissioned in the following fortnight, with 61 percent of the furniture by weight resold or donated and a diversion report issued for the client's sustainability file.

The phasing was the whole answer. Our delivery team never stopped, and the plan room came back in order.
